This is a feature length omnibus animation based on three short story comics by Katsuhiro Otomo.Koji Morimoto, Tensai Okamura, and Katsuhiro Otomo, each worked on one episode. Episode 1, “Magnetic Rose” and Episode 3, “Cannon Fodder” were animated and produced at Studio 4°C. Studio 4°C’s first proprietary production was a major work that became a project of monumental scale. With the inclusion of a vast amount of digital technology, the never-before-seen visuals, created quite a sensation.
While the magnificent opera that runs throughout “Memories”, is the performance of the Members of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, authentic sound was painstakingly produced by having a conductor wave his baton and direct the singer while simultaneously viewing the film in the Dovolzarc hall of Czech Republic. In “Cannon Fodder”, no camera blocking was used and everything was filmed as one scene in one cut. This film attempted this method for the first time, and it became the film that began the transition from cel to computer.
