NAMCO BANDAI Games’ popular flight simulation series, “Ace Combat”. In “Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies” which was released in 2002, in addition to the main story, a side story shows the people of a town drawn into the war as experienced through the eyes of a young boy. The side story, produced under the supervision of director Sunao Katabuchi, was given a nostalgic feel, as though still photographs were projected through 16mm film, and the renditions of changes in light and darkness are included throughout. The story, told through a young boy’s narration, broadens the game’s worldview and stimulates the player’s imagination.
